Look at the CIPR Cymru Wales Invitation

Public Relations professionals face unique challenges when working to meet the needs of regional businesses and organisations. Local media in North Wales cover large geographical areas with a widely spread population.

It is difficult for regional stories to compete with their metropolitan cousins. Local media will join us to discuss the stories that are important to them and how to deliver those stories.

A networking lunch will be followed by a panel-led group discussion.

Heading the panel is Dr Llion Iwan from the School of Creative Studies and Media, Bangor University. Dr Llion Iwan is a published author, journalist and documentary film director. Llion is an expert on regional media and Welsh broadcasting. Among the courses he teaches at Bangor are ‘Development of PR’ and ‘Advanced Practical Journalism’.

On the panel is Linda Roberts the executive editor of the Caernarfon Herald Series, which consists of the Holyhead and Anglesey Mail, the Bangor and Anglesey Mail and the Caernarfon Herald. She became the first ever female editor of the Caernarfon Herald in 2009 and has over 20 years experience in journalism.

Also joining the panel is Wendy Rees, Head of the BBC’s operations in North Wales. Primarily from a HR and Development background she has spent her whole career in the Broadcasting Industry, the majority of which at the BBC.

We will be discussing ‘How the population of Wales “consumes” its media and how this consumption is changing’. Local media are important and we will discuss the best way to support vibrant regional media.
